Context
The Direction Generale de l’Armement (DGA), France’s defence procurement and technology agency, sought to significantly improve the operational availability of its military vehicles and helicopters fleet, including the Leclerc main Battle Tank, Griffon armoured vehicles, Jaguar reconnaissance vehicles, Serval multi-role vehicles, the Tiger attack helicopter, and NH90 helicopters for optimal operational ready condition.
With military equipment increasingly reliant on sophisticated avionics systems and electronic components, the DGA recognised the critical need for enhanced maintenance capabilities that could rapidly diagnose and repair Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) – modular electronic or optronic equipment designed as replaceable items that can be quickly replaced in the field to restore vehicle functionality in a short time. This challenge became particularly urgent as the French military modernised its fleet under the SCORPION programme, requiring maintenance solutions that could support both legacy systems and new military platforms for the French Army while meeting stringent standards for reliability and performance.
Solution
Spherea developed and deployed the SESAR 3000 family (Mermoz, D2G and GPATE) of modular electronic and optronic test benches, designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
These advanced systems enable automatic diagnostics of embedded equipment and are fully deployable by air, rail, road, or sea, ensuring maximum mobility and responsiveness. SESAR 3000 offers enhanced capabilities for electronic troubleshooting and maintenance. Spherea guarantees long-term support and continuous evolution of these systems covering both legacy and current programs through a unified testing solution that streamlines maintenance and simplifies workforce training.
